Dr. Shivshankar Diggikar
Neonatal Intensive Care Fellowship (UK), MBBS
Dr. Shivshankar Diggikar is a well-trained neonatologist and pediatrician. He completed his pediatric training from the prestigious Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute. He then did his neonatology training from Manipal Hospitals and was awarded fellowship by Indian Academy of paediatrics (IAP), before moving to London to pursue core neonatal training at Homerton University Hospitals, where he was awarded the fellowship by the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH). He is a member of Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), UK. During his training, he managed a large number of extremely premature babies, from 23 weeks of gestation age. He has expertise in managing babies with moderate to severe encephalopathy, PPHN, and sepsis.
He has a few research publications under his name and is a member of IAP, IMA (Indian Medical Association) and RCPCH, UK. He is the executive board member for the National Neonatal Forum – Karnataka (2020-2022).
His areas of interest include neonatal brain injury and prevention, neurodevelopmental follow up and bedside imaging (echocardiogram, cranial ultrasound and thoracic use) for babies to improve outcomes. He is certified in the Early Nutrition Specialist course – ENS (Germany).
He has also been trained in Bayley’s Neurodevelopmental Assessment and certified Prechtl’s Assessment for high risk babies.
He has the vision to improve the neonatal outcomes in less resource settings in India.
